Equipment

  • 1-2 donut pans

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cacao powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 2/3 cup almond milk room temperature
  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 and grease two (6 piece) donut pans.
  • In one bowl, combine the flour, almond flour, cacao, baking soda, and sea salt. Sift together until there are no more clumps.
  • In another small bowl, combine the almond milk, coconut sugar, maple syrup, and melted butter. (Make sure the almond milk is room temperature and not ice cold or the butter will clump).
  • Mix the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until combined.
  • Pour the donut batter into the pan until each is almost entirely filled.
  • Bake the donuts for 10-11 minutes then remove after this time has elapsed. Use a toothpick to check that the donut interior is cooked, but still soft.
  • Let the donuts cool on the stovetop for 5 minutes then enjoy!

Notes

  • If you pour the butter into the wet ingredient mix and it begins to clump, just microwave the bowl for 25-30 seconds and mix again. This happens when the almond milk is too cold, but don't worry the mix is not ruined!
  • The donuts will be SO soft when they come out of the oven. Let them cool for at least 5 minutes before removing from the pan. If you remove them right away, the donuts may crumble.
