Ingredients:
- Bananas – almost ripe or ripe is best.
- Almond butter / peanut butter / sunflower butter – whatever you prefer!
- Walnuts / almonds / peanuts / etc – again whatever you prefer!
- Semi sweet or dark chocolate – my favorite chocolate is Hu brand which you can find in many stores or even order on amazon.
- Optional: Sea salt, cinnamon, any other preferred toppings.
Making your Chocolate Banana Snack Bars:
One of the best parts of these chocolate banana snack bars is how simple they are to make. You can fully prep and freeze these in under 25 minutes – but the actual prep takings about 5-10 minutes. This is also a great recipe to make with kids! Here’s how to do it:
Start by peeling the bananas and slicing them down the middle long ways. Then slice each piece once more in half so you are left with 8 pieces. Using a spoon, spread your nut butter of choice in a thin layer across the inside of the bananas. Next, top them off with whatever nuts/seeds/seasonings you prefer. Lastly you’re going to melt the chocolate in 30 second increments (stirring in between) until the chocolate is fully melted. Then drizzle across the top and you’re all set!
Pop them in the freeze for 20-30 minutes to enjoy frozen. Of course you can also eat these right away if you don’t want them cold. For storage purposes, keep them in a freezer friendly container and store for 2-3 weeks in the freezer or until the bananas begin to brown.
