Sweet & Delicious Veggies!
Are you looking for an easy side dish to add to your holiday menus? How about a way to make a vegetable so good that even the pickiest of eaters will enjoy? Then maple glazed carrots are a tasty way to include veggies in all your meals (holidays or not!). I guarantee this side will be a fun new addition to the Thanksgiving table this year.
I’ve been looking for a way to ENJOY eating carrots for over a year. As a picky eater, carrots are one vegetable I cannot seem to include into my everyday diet. I just don’t love the taste or the texture! I’ve tried carrots steamed, baked, boiled, shredded, chopped, and anyway you can name it. For over a year, I’ve been trying to make carrots that I love and finally (!) here they are!
After many attempts, I can now successfully say that this recipe is the only way I want to eat carrots ever again. They have a perfect tender texture and are sweetened with maple syrup (AKA my favorite natural sweetener!). With some butter, sugar, and sea salt mixed in, this is one side dish I’ve been loving. It’s one recipe I’ll be including in all my holiday menus this year!
Ingredients
- Organic carrots
- Natural maple syrup
- Organic cane sugar
- Unsalted organic butter
- Sea salt
Making Maple Glazed Carrots
These maple glazed carrots take only 15 minutes to make! They require only 5 ingredients and some peeling, slicing, and stove-top cooking. And all you’ll need a peeling tool, knife, cutting board, and a large pan.
First you’ll want start by to washing and peeling the carrots. Then cut the carrots in half and slice the carrots long ways into 1/4″-1/2″ thick pieces. If you have smaller carrots, there is no need to cut them in half (and reminder: the carrots don’t need to be cut perfectly)!
Next place your large pan on the stove over medium heat and place the carrots in the pan. Cover the carrots with 1-1 1/2 cups of water or until the carrots are halfway submerged. Raise the heat and bring the carrots to a slow boil and cook for 5-8 minutes until tender. Lower the heat and add in the maple syrup, sugar, butter, and sea salt. Mix the ingredients and carrots until they are evenly coating the carrots.
Lower the heat and let the carrots simmer for another 5-8 minutes. When the carrots are fully cooked, they will be soft to the touch (with a fork, don’t use your fingers!) Then pour onto a serving dish or plate and serve. Enjoy these maple glazed carrots this Thanksgiving or as an easy side to any dinner!
