A Deliciously Healthy Treat!
I’m going to start by saying this: this is one of the BEST tasting recipes I’ve ever made. I was in shock after taking my first bite out of one of these soft, baked chocolate donuts. They have an incredible melt-in-your-mouth texture and the richest flavor. I’ve never tried another baked donut that holds such moisture and flavor like these do. And did I mention that these soft, moist, and decadent chocolate donuts are also a healthier option?
If you’ve found this recipe, you and me must have something in common: we both love a good chocolatey snack/dessert. And if you’re really like me, then you need one of those chocolatey snacks/desserts in your life everyday. These donuts are exactly the type of treat you’ll want to make over and over again.
Made with ingredients like almond flour, cacao powder, and coconut sugar, these donuts will satisfy all your chocolate dreams and leave you feeling fantastic! Their easy to make and only take 10 minutes to bake. Is there any reason not to make them?
Ingredients
- Unbleached and organic all purpose flour
- Natural almond flour (I prefer to use natural almond flour from whole almonds that has not been blanched)
- Unsweetened cacao powder. To avoid any possible sulfites, I use cacao powder that is not processed with alkali.
- Baking soda
- Pink Himalayan sea salt
- Almond milk or dairy milk.
- Organic coconut sugar or cane sugar
- Natural maple syrup
- Unsalted butter (Vegan butter will also work in the recipe)
Making Your Baked Chocolate Donuts
These donuts are best when made using donut pans. You could also probably make them in a muffin tin (they would obviously just be muffin shaped)! Whichever shape they are, they’ll still have the same incredible taste.
Start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees and greasing the two 6-piece donut pans. In one bowl, mix together the all purpose flour, almond flour, cacao powder, baking soda, and sea salt. Sift until all the clumps are gone. Then in another bowl, mix together the almond milk, coconut sugar, maple syrup, and melted butter. You want to make sure the almond milk is room temperature before pouring in the butter otherwise it’ll clump!
When the wet ingredients are well combined, pour them into the dry ingredients and use a big spoon to mix together. The donut batter should be smooth and slightly thick. Pour the batter into the donut pan filling the holes almost to the top. This recipe will make about 8 donuts that are a medium-large size. You could also fill the donut holes around 3/4 of the way for more smaller donuts. When filled, place the donut pans into the oven and bake for 10-11 minutes. Remove from the oven and check the center with a toothpick. The donuts will be soft, but no batter should come out wet on the toothpick.
Let the chocolate donuts cool for 5 minutes on the stovetop before enjoying. They are very tasty warm, but when they are too hot they may not come out of the pan smoothly. After 5 minutes, remove from the trays and enjoy!

The Most Amazing Healthy Baked Chocolate Donuts
Equipment
- 1-2 donut pans
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cacao powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 2/3 cup almond milk room temperature
- 1/3 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 and grease two (6 piece) donut pans.
- In one bowl, combine the flour, almond flour, cacao, baking soda, and sea salt. Sift together until there are no more clumps.
- In another small bowl, combine the almond milk, coconut sugar, maple syrup, and melted butter. (Make sure the almond milk is room temperature and not ice cold or the butter will clump).
- Mix the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until combined.
- Pour the donut batter into the pan until each is almost entirely filled.
- Bake the donuts for 10-11 minutes then remove after this time has elapsed. Use a toothpick to check that the donut interior is cooked, but still soft.
- Let the donuts cool on the stovetop for 5 minutes then enjoy!
Notes
- If you pour the butter into the wet ingredient mix and it begins to clump, just microwave the bowl for 25-30 seconds and mix again. This happens when the almond milk is too cold, but don’t worry the mix is not ruined!
- The donuts will be SO soft when they come out of the oven. Let them cool for at least 5 minutes before removing from the pan. If you remove them right away, the donuts may crumble.
