Tasty Sulfite Free Crumb Cake

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour organic, unbleached
  • 1 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup cane sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup warm milk or water milk preferred

Crumb topping

  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups cane sugar
  • 4 sticks melted butter (2 cups)
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

Instructions

For the cake

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
  • Mix the dry ingredients in one bowl and the wet ingredients (minus the milk) in another.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients then add the warm milk (or water).
  • Stir well and pour into a pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes and remove when set.

Crumb topping

  • Mix together the flour, sugar and cinnamon then slowly stir in the wet ingredients.
  • Place the mix on top of the cake (you may have to use your hands!).
  • Bake for 10 minutes with the crumb topping.
