Equipment

  • Crockpot

Ingredients

Stovetop

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 bell pepper chopped
  • 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup red onion chopped
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Crockpot

  • 2 15oz diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 1/2 cup kidney beans

Optional

  • 1/2 tsp chipotle powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped jalapeno

Instructions

Stovetop

  • Start by placing a pan on the stovetop on low. While it's heating, chop up the bell pepper and onions into small pieces. Once warm, add in the olive oil, peppers and onions and combine until well mixed.
  • When the pepper and onion mix begins to sizzle, add in the ground turkey. Slowly mix the ingredients then add the sea salt, onion and chili powder. Cook for around 10 minutes on medium heat or until the turkey begins to brown.

Crockpot

  • While the turkey mix is cooking, turn the crockpot on high. Add in the diced tomatoes and beans.
  • Once the turkey, pepper and onion mix has cooked, add it into the crockpot and combine with the tomatoes and beans. Add any additional desired ingredients and stir well.
  • Let the chili cook for 4 hours on high heat or 6 hours on low heat while occasionally stirring. Once the chili has cooked for the specified amount of time, serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • The exact amount of tomato mix may vary depending on type/brand. For example if you're using crushed tomatoes you may need a bit less.
  • You can use either all kidney beans or all black beans if desired.
  • Jalapeno, onion, peppers, and other add-ins can be changed! Whatever your personal preference may be, the recipe is forgiving.
  • If you don't have a crockpot, you should be able to cook it on low heat on the stove top stirring occasionally.
